PHOTO A DAY IN MAY - Day 25

Today is the day our first grandson is due.
No phone call, no labor, no pains.
But it's a full moon tonight so here's hoping!!!!

So off to project 1,000,000,002 for the Graduation party!
For our second child's graduation party we painted the garage floor and it looked stunning.
Until winter came and the salt and sand peeled it all up in tiny little chips of paint began trickling into my house.
Sometimes things seem like a good idea until they go bad. Then you're just stuck vacuuming up the mess.
So with the next graduation party quickly approaching and leftover residue on the garage floor from old cars that we no longer have, dripping oil and other fluids onto the floor, we decided that we would Epoxy the floor this year. So my husband moved everything from one side of the garage to the other, vacuumed and prepped the floor for painting and then he went to town! I LOVE IT!
As of right now It looks awesome!
One of the best feelings in the world for me is a clean garage! I don't know why but this clean look just makes me smile.
I always admire people who keep clean garages and now mine looks good again too!!!

I know by December I will be wishing we hadn't done it but right now it looks and feels amazing and I can't wait to have a party!!
For the last grad party that we had,  we rented a moving truck for $20 and put everything from the garage into the truck and parked it a block away so we had the entire garage decorated and open!
We will be doing that again this party season!!
Its what you do when you have a little Cracker Jack house.
Even though we rented a 20x40 tent  for the backyard with side and back panels, it is still nice to have the nice clean garage with no grease stains and a fresh coat of paint on the walls!
Good job honey!!! LOOKS GREAT!!!
Now all we need is that cool Refrigerator I have had my eye on for a few years!!!!
 IT WOULD LOOK SPECTACULAR!!!!
(wink, wink)

PHOTO OF THE DAY IN MAY - Day 24

These are a few of my favorite things!!!
One of my favorite places is this darling little chocolate shop called
If I ever had my OWN  (pun intended) talk show and we did an episode giving away a few of my favorite things, every audience member would receive Droolin Moose!

It is such a charming little shop.
They let you taste before you buy. I mean seriously! All you need is a cup of coffee and you are good to go.

Squirrel bate and Chocolate covered raisins are my favorite. But I found a new favorite today called Java Jo Jo's!!
If you have never been to Droolin Moose in Burnsville or Bloomington I suggest you make this cute little chocolate shop a priority soon!

Baby Bunnies

I have had no tulips to speak of this year as most of the heads of them were eaten off by the rabbits.
I cleaned at least 1 home depot size bucket of rabbit poo from my yard this spring, once again from those "wascally wabbits!"
But I still love them! They are just so darn fluffy and cute!

But there are those who hate them.
Hate them to the point of "taking care of the problem."

Most tell me they do this to save their gardens.
Others tell me they do it just to keep them out of their yards.
I understand completely.
But it still makes me incredibly sad.

When my neighbor's dog discovered the bunny nest tonight. We all went back to look at it, to see how many there were and to figure out a plan.
Once the layers of wood chips had been peeled back, it revealed 6 baby bunnies I could no longer contain myself. I had to hold one or 3!
The dog that found this one, let it go but it had a tooth mark in its back.

They all told me, feel free to take them all home to my house and If I had anywhere to put them I would have! I'm a sucker for a baby animal what can I say?
They were so tiny and adorable. Hardly any fur at all. Just the skin with the color markings on their bodies where their fur will eventually be.
I should have never held them.
I had to leave to go to dinner and put them down and as I did I knew they would be dead before I got home from dinner and they were.
I still understand, I do, but I still think its sad.
I think killing cows is sad too but I had steak at Outback tonight so I am a little contradictory here I realize that!
But I don't kill the cow myself so it's the not ever seeing it that seems to make it tolerable.

I do think with mama on the run as well as her many "suitors"  that the bunnies definitely  will end up winning this war.

PHOTO A DAY IN MAY - Day 22

There is not much much to say on day like today,
A day that is wet and dark and so gray.

I sure hope tomorrow turns night into day,
so I can take better photo's, my photo's for May!

But for now all I can do is just say,
Here's hoping for sunshine tomorrow,
        GOOD DAY!

Spring in Minnesota!

Spring in Minnesota has such contrasting views.
On one hand we have the ever growing and greening of our priceless perennial, GRASS.
Then the perfect beauty of a blossoming Cherry tree.
I mean seriously these are my favorite thing to see as I walk or bike! The perfect pink makes me smile and sneeze but mostly smile. It is blossoming into summer and I LOVE SUMMER!
When I was a kid and the cherry trees were blossoming around Mother's day, I would make corsages for moms and try to sell them out of my little red wagon!
I do love these pink beauties. I wish they could bloom all summer.

Then there's the emerging June bugs, which sends me indoors the minute I hear the B52's flying over. It is truly a miracle that they come from the ground (eew) and then have the ability to fly,  not well I might add,  due to their weight they seem to only be able to fly about head high!!! MY HEAD!!!
They are attracted to me like a magnet, they are attracted to everyone like that. They have these Velcro legs that cling to your hair with a Kung Fu grip!!
UHHH!
Whatever the reason for their existence I LOATHE THEM!
The very sound of them ends any outdoor conversation I may be having at the time.
The fact that they cling to my screen door and I find them "mostly dead" on their nasty backs, legs still moving in the morning, is just revolting!
There are 3 Things I intend on asking God when I enter Heaven:
1. WHERE'S EVE???
After that "conversation" is over, question
2. WHY JUNE BUGS AND SNAKES???
3. CAN I HAVE THE PLEASURE OF THROWING THEM INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE WHERE THEY BELONG??
(Let me clarify: not Eve just June bugs and Snakes! )

I do love spring in Minnesota but I could do without these!

Perhaps a few more Cherry Blossoms instead!

PHOTO A DAY IN MAY - Day 20

Oh the things we do for our Graduation Parties!
Just the other day I was telling some friends, that I know some people who are having 800-900 people for their Grad party.
I was saying how graduation parties have just gotten out of control.

Well I guess I am a contributor as well because I have spent my day cutting and painting branches Hot Pink.

WHO DOES THIS?
Me apparently. I think they look fabulous and when the tables are set and my Hot Pink branches are front and center I will smile. Because after all that is what women like to do. We like to make things special for the people that we love! Even 8-900 of our closest friends! Well in our case, only 200 people. But it will all be worth it.

More Grad Party pics to come..........

PHOTO A DAY IN MAY! Day-19

Well we finally had our first real ominous sky today! I have to admit that stormy days are just as wonderful to me as sunny ones.
I love unpredictable weather which of course is why I live in MN!

So in true Bettelli style, when the sirens go off, as they did today,  we run to the windows and doors!

This is how the Bettelli family watches storms!!!
I guess I'm not a very good mom that it's my children's instinct to grab their cameras (cell phones) and run outside.
But on the off chance that one day we actually see something worth the sirens going off for, it just might be worth it!!
For today just pea size hail and lots of rain.
This is just the beginning!!
I LOVE SUMMER STORMS because you don't have to shovel!
